Visit Highlights
CLP Black Point Power Station is one of the world’s largest gas-fired combined cycle power stations. It is owned by the Castle Peak Power Company Limited (CAPCO), a joint venture between CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (70%) and China Southern Power Grid International (HK) Co., Limited (30%), and is operated by CLP.

CLP became the first electricity supplier in Hong Kong to use natural gas for power generation when Black Point started operation in 1996. The use of natural gas enabled CLP to reduce total CO2 emissions, leading to more environmental friendly operation.


During the technical visit, you will have the chance to visit various locations including the Gallery, the Turbine Hall as well as the Central Control Room, etc.

Fee
Free of charge. Free shuttle bus service between Kowloon Tong and the CLP Black Point Power Generation Plant will be provided.

Registration
Only application from BSOMES Student Members will be accepted. The maximum number of participants is 30 pax and prior registration is required.

The deadline of application is 16 June 2014. Successful members will be informed by confirmation e-mail on or before 20 June 2014. If the applicants have not received the confirmation e-mail on or before 20 June 2014, their applications are regarded as not successful. The successful list will also be posted on BSOMES website of www.bsomes.org.hk for information.
 

CPD Certificate
3-hour CPD certificate from BSOMES will be available after the technical visit.


Insurance
Limited accident insurance will be particularly provided for Student Members at the venue whilst passenger insurance will be separately provided by the shuttle service provider for all passengers. If deemed necessary, participants may strengthen their own insurance for protection against the other coverage for the whole technical visit.
